In a devastating incident on January 4, 2025, three Indian Army personnel lost their lives when their truck skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the northern region of Jammu and Kashmir. The tragedy occurred around 2:30 p.m. local time in the remote area of Sakh Payan in Bandipora district.
The Indian Army has expressed its profound sorrow over the loss of these courageous soldiers and has extended heartfelt condolences to their bereaved families. According to official statements shared on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), the accident was primarily caused by adverse weather conditions, including heavy fog, which made the road dangerously slippery. The army vehicle lost control and fell into the ravine while the soldiers were on duty.
This tragic incident is not an isolated event. Just last month, a similar accident occurred in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir, where a military truck plunged 300 feet into a ravine, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers.
These incidents highlight the immense risks faced by military personnel deployed in such perilous terrains.
