This strategic deployment appears to stem from recent remarks made by an advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government, who controversially suggested integrating India’s northeastern regions with Bangladesh. The publication of this map provoked sharp criticism from New Delhi, with Indian officials underscoring the need for discretion and responsibility in public statements.
By fortifying its riverine borders, India has sent a clear signal of its commitment to safeguarding national security. The BSF elaborated that these floating outposts are specifically designed to monitor transboundary river activities and act swiftly against any irregularities.
On the other hand, concerns have been raised by Bangladesh’s interim government. Legal advisor Asif Nazrul alleged that India’s actions are part of a broader campaign to marginalize Bangladesh on the international stage.
