🔥 Secretary Office Fire: Emergency Meeting, Investigation Committee Formed 🚨

A fire broke out in the Secretariat today, leading to an urgent meeting of the Advisory Council, chaired by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The meeting was held at the Prime Advisor's office in Jamuna, and later, two council members addressed the media at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka. 🏢🔥

What Was Discussed at the Meeting:

🌿 Environmental Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan shared that a high-level committee has been set up to investigate the cause and origin of the fire. The committee will present a report within three days. The Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs will lead the investigation. In addition, a tribute was paid to firefighter Noyon, who tragically lost his life while trying to control the fire. 🕊️🚒

⚽ Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan reported that important documents from five ministries were destroyed in the blaze. However, thanks to digital records, the Youth and Sports Ministry's files could be recovered. Unfortunately, the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives had analog records, which cannot be restored. To keep operations running, the government is transferring work to other departments temporarily. 📑💻

Bhuiyan also shared that after taking charge of the Local Government Ministry, he had found initial evidence of embezzlement in project funds in Pirojpur district. This investigation, which involves the former Chief Secretary, will continue as records are restored. 🔍💼

The fire caused significant damage, destroying key documents across multiple floors of the seven-story Secretariat building. The fire service worked for nearly six hours to control the flames, deploying 32 firefighting units in total. 🚒🔥

The tragic loss of firefighter Noyon has deeply affected the nation, and the Advisory Council paid tribute to him at his funeral. 🇧🇩🕊️

Stay tuned for more updates as the investigation progresses.
