In an effort to strengthen the security forces, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has announced that newly recruited police officers will undergo commando training to handle riots more effectively. 🚓🔥 This training will be given to around 2,000 police officers who recently completed basic training in Assam. About half of them will be sent for special commando training. 🎯
The commando course will take place at the Bhubankanj Police Academy in Assam, where the recruits will receive a 44-week program. 🎓 After completing the training, between 800 to 1,000 officers will be deployed to temporary barracks, where they'll receive advanced tactical training for handling emergencies and violence. 🏫👮♀️
To support this initiative, Chief Minister Singh visited the construction site of new police firing ranges and temporary barracks in Imphal, the capital of Manipur. 🏗️ He explained that the barracks are being built to meet the current security needs of the state. 🏢
The state of Manipur has recently faced a rise in violence. On December 17, 2024, a police commando was killed in an attack in Moreh city. 🕊️ Additionally, on December 28, 2024, several people, including a journalist, were injured in a fresh firing incident in the Kangpokpi district. 💔
Given this increasing violence, the Manipur government is focusing on improving the capabilities of the police force through specialized training and infrastructure development. 👊🔧 This initiative is expected to enhance the police's response to riots and other security challenges in the region.
How do you think this commando training will impact the security situation in Manipur? 🤔
