Sheikh Hasina sought refuge in India on August 5 amidst a student-led uprising. ๐ฎ๐ณ Since then, she has remained in India. She faces several charges related to crimes against humanity, and the International Criminal Tribunal has issued arrest warrants against her. ⚖️ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangladesh has informed India that necessary steps are being taken to ensure her return for trial.
There is an existing prisoner exchange agreement between Bangladesh and India, which could facilitate the process. ๐ However, the next steps will depend on India’s response, which will unfold in due course. ⏳
